Laminar flow Biological Safety Cabinet (horizontal/vertical) designed so as to meet the requirements of US federal standard 209 B (BS 5295) providing particle free air to meet class 100 conditions. The unit is fitted with pre-filter and HEPA filter. Air is drawn through pre-filter and is made to pass through highly effective HEPA filters having efficiency rating as high as 99.99% with cold DOP & 99.97% with hot DOP thus retaining all air-borne particles of size 0.3 micron and larger. Using a dynamic machine, the blower and motor assembly is statically and dynamically balanced ISI marked motor of 1/5 HP capacity operates with minimum noise level. The working area is illuminated by fluorescent lighting fitted to the unit. Height of the working table provides comfortable "SIT DOWN" working position for the operator.

Salient Features

  • The cabinet is fabricated of thick wooden sheet (Optional : outer body made of mild steel duly powder coated/SS as per requirement)
  • Work table is made of SS with mirror finish which makes it easy to clean, washable & chemical resistive, corrosive free.
  • Side panels are made out of thick transparent plexus glass / acrylic sheet duly framed
  • High efficiency pre filter
  • HEPA filter efficiency- 99.99% with cold DOP & 99.97% with hot DOP thus retaining all air-borne particles of size 0.3 micron
  • Pressure manometer to guage the pressure drop in the unit
  • Built in U.V. Germicidal Light for disinfection and fluorescent light for work space illumination
  • Utility- gas/air cock and multi point electric socket.
  • Transparent front door
  • Castor wheels for ease of movement.

WIST Laminar airflow (LAF) is a controlled airflow used in various industries, particularly in cleanrooms, laboratories, and medical facilities, to minimize contamination and maintain a sterile environment. Here's a description of laminar airflow systems: Directionality: Laminar airflow systems produce a unidirectional, uniform airflow in a parallel stream with minimal turbulence. The air moves in smooth, straight paths, typically from a high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) or ultra-low penetration air (ULPA) filter down towards the work surface or area of interest. Filtration: The primary component of a laminar airflow system is the HEPA or ULPA filter. These filters remove airborne particles and microorganisms, such as dust, bacteria, and viruses, down to a specified size (usually 0.3 micrometers or smaller) with a high efficiency (typically 99.99% or higher). Sterile Environment: Laminar airflow creates a sterile or near-sterile environment by continuously filtering the air and removing contaminants. This is crucial in environments where contamination can compromise processes or experiments, such as in pharmaceutical manufacturing, electronics assembly, or medical procedures. Types of Laminar Flow: There are two main types of laminar airflow: Horizontal Laminar Flow: Air flows horizontally across the workspace, parallel to the floor. This setup is commonly used in laboratories and cleanrooms where products or samples need protection from contamination. Vertical Laminar Flow: Air flows vertically from the ceiling down to the floor. Vertical laminar airflow is often utilized in clean benches, biological safety cabinets, and operating rooms to create a sterile working area around the work surface. Applications: Laminar airflow systems find applications in a wide range of industries, including pharmaceutical manufacturing, biotechnology, microbiology, semiconductor fabrication, hospitals, and surgical theaters. They are used whenever a controlled, sterile environment is necessary to protect sensitive materials, equipment, or processes. Control and Monitoring: Laminar airflow systems typically incorporate controls for adjusting airflow velocity and monitoring parameters such as air velocity, temperature, and pressure. This ensures that the airflow remains within specified parameters to maintain the desired level of cleanliness. Work Area Protection: Laminar airflow protects the work area by preventing airborne contaminants from entering or coming into contact with sensitive materials, samples, or equipment. This is essential for maintaining product quality, preventing cross-contamination, and ensuring the safety of personnel. Maintenance: Regular maintenance and filter replacement are essential to ensure the effectiveness of laminar airflow systems. Filters should be inspected and replaced according to a maintenance schedule to maintain the desired level of cleanliness and efficiency.
